Philippe Aghion ist Professor am College de France und am INSEAD, Gastprofessor an der London School of Economics und Fellow der Econometric Society und der American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Howitt). 2001 erhielt Philippe Aghion den Yrjo Jahnsson Award des besten europäischen Ökonomen unter 45 Jahren, 2009 den John Von Neumann Award und im März 2020 teilte er sich mit Peter Howitt den BBVA „Frontier of Knowledge Award“ für „developing an Wirtschaftswachstumstheorie, die auf der Innovation basiert, die aus dem Prozess der schöpferischen Zerstörung hervorgeht“. Vor kurzem hat Philippe Aghion zusammen mit C. Antonin und S. Bunel ein neues Buch mit dem Titel The Power of Creative Destruction (Odile Jacob, Harvard University Press) herausgegeben.
