James Brendan Patterson (* 22. März 1947 in London) ist ein US-amerikanischer Autor. Zu seinen Werken gehören die Serien Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Women's Murder Club, Maximum Ride, Daniel X, NYPD Red, Witch and Wizard und Private sowie viele eigenständige Thriller, Sachbücher und Liebesromane. Seine Bücher wurden mehr als 400 Millionen Mal verkauft, und er war der erste Mensch, der 1 Million E-Books verkaufte. Im Jahr 2016 führte Patterson mit einem Einkommen von 95 Millionen US-Dollar zum dritten Mal in Folge die Forbes-Liste der bestbezahlten Autoren an. Sein Gesamteinkommen über ein Jahrzehnt wird auf 700 Millionen Dollar geschätzt.
