Paulo Davim erhielt seinen Ph.D. Abschluss in Maschinenbau 1997, M.Sc. Abschluss in Maschinenbau (Materialien und Herstellungsverfahren) im Jahr 1991, Abschluss in Maschinenbau (5 Jahre) im Jahr 1986 von der Universität Porto (FEUP), der Gesamttitel (vollständige Habilitation) von der Universität von Coimbra im Jahr 2005 und der D. Sc. (Higher Doctorate) von der London Metropolitan University im Jahr 2013. Er ist Senior Chartered Engineer der portugiesischen Institution of Engineers mit einem MBA und Fachtiteln in Ingenieurwesen und Industriemanagement sowie in Metrologie. Er ist auch Eur Ing von FEANI-Brüssel und Fellow (FIET) von IET-London. Derzeit ist er Professor an der Fakultät für Maschinenbau der Universität Aveiro, Portugal. Er ist auch als Honorarprofessor an mehreren Universitäten/Hochschulen ausgezeichnet. Er verfügt über mehr als 30 Jahre Lehr- und Forschungserfahrung in den Bereichen Fertigung, Werkstoffe, Maschinenbau und Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf Zerspanung und Tribologie. Er interessiert sich auch für Management, Ingenieurausbildung und Hochschulbildung für Nachhaltigkeit.
