Er war Fellow von Wolfson-College, Oxford. Er war Atutor und Laborausbilder am Clarendon Laboratory. Er war auch Visiting Fellow an der Linkoping University, Linkoping, Schweden; Max-Planck-Institut in Stuttgart, Deutschland. Er kam 1987 als Fachbereichsleiter für Elektronik und Telekommunikationstechnik an die Jadavpur University, Kalkutta. Anschließend wurde er von 1996 bis 1999 Professor und Leiter der Fakultät für Physik sowie Dekan der Fakultät für Naturwissenschaften der Bengal Engineering Science University (BESU). Später trat er erneut als Professor in die ETCE-Abteilung der Jadavpur University ein.
