Profesör Klaus Schwab (1938, Ravensburg, Almanya) Dünya Ekonomik Forumu'nun Kurucusu ve Yönetim Kurulu Başkanıdır. 1971 yılında Makine Mühendisliğinde Modern İşletme Yönetimi kitabını yayınladı. Bu kitapta, bir şirketin uzun vadeli büyüme ve refah elde etmek için sadece hissedarlarına değil tüm paydaşlarına hizmet etmesi gerektiğini savunuyor. Paydaş kavramını teşvik etmek için aynı yıl Dünya Ekonomik Forumu'nu kurdu.
Profesör Schwab, Ekonomi (Fribourg Üniversitesi) ve Mühendislik (İsviçre Federal Teknoloji Enstitüsü) doktoralarına sahiptir ve Harvard Üniversitesi Kennedy Devlet Okulu'ndan Kamu Yönetimi (MPA) alanında yüksek lisans derecesi almıştır. 1972'de Forum'daki liderlik rolüne ek olarak Cenevre Üniversitesi'nde profesör oldu. O zamandan beri, 17 fahri doktora da dahil olmak üzere çok sayıda uluslararası ve ulusal onursal ödül aldı.
