Eric Dorchmid is a cinematographer, producer, director, author, and professor of military history. Previously he worked as a war correspondent for the BBC and CBS. "Newsweek" said of him: A very talented reporter, he has transformed the form of media in which he works. While the "New York Times" said about him: "Dortchmid has seen more wars than any living general." Eric Dortschmid was born on December 25, 1930 AD in Vienna, Austria. Dorchmid felt the impact of the war when he was still a child when German forces entered Vienna. Dorchmid immigrated to Canada in 1952. Working as a war correspondent, Dorchmid reports from the midst of battles and conflicts, from the Vietnam War, through the Iran-Iraq War, and Afghanistan. He worked as a press correspondent for the BBC from 1959 to 1971. Dorchmid conducted many press interviews with some international figures such as John Kennedy, Salvador Allende, David Ben-Gurion and Saddam Hussein. Dorchmid also worked as a cinematographer while covering global conflicts. In 1958, the only film about Fidel Castro was shot directly alongside the revolutionaries on the Sierra Maestra. Dorchmid is best known for his book The Role of Chance and Stupidity in Changing the Course of History: The Decisive Factor.
