Chris Harman: born November 8, 1942 - died November 7, 2009 was a journalist, political activist, and British Marxist theorist, and a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Labor Party in Britain. He was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Socialist Worker and later of the Journal of International Socialism. Harman was born into a working-class family and attended the University of Leeds, where he joined a group of Trotskyist socialists who later founded the Socialist Workers' Party. After that, he joined the London School of Economics with the intention of obtaining a Ph.D., but did not complete his studies. Harman died of a heart attack in Cairo, Egypt, while participating in the conference of the Center for Socialist Studies "Socialist Days".
