It also discusses the ecological significance of large rivers and the various management strategies used to preserve them.

The first section of the book provides an introduction to large rivers and their geomorphology. It discusses the various physical processes that shape the river channels, such as erosion, sediment transport, and deposition. The section also covers the different types of large rivers and their unique characteristics.

The second section of the book focuses on the management of large rivers. It explores the various approaches to managing large rivers, including environmental and ecological management, dam and reservoir management, and floodplain management. The section also discusses the challenges associated with large river management, such as the conflicting demands of stakeholders and the need to balance ecological and economic concerns.

The third section of the book covers the ecological significance of large rivers. It discusses the importance of large rivers as habitats for various species, including fish, birds, and other wildlife. The section also explores the various threats to the ecological health of large rivers, such as pollution, habitat loss, and climate change.

Throughout the book, Avijit Gupta provides numerous examples of large rivers from around the world. He uses case studies to illustrate the various geomorphic processes at work in different types of large rivers and to highlight the successes and challenges associated with large river management.
