Dave graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999, with a BA in English. She has a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Virginia's Creative Writing Program. She has received many awards for her writing including the AWP Intro Award for Short Fiction. After graduating from school, Laura Dave worked as a freelance journalist for ESPN.
