horror comics
Horror comics are comic books that focus on horror fiction. In the US market, horror comic books reached their peak in the late 1940s to the mid-1950s, when interest in content and the imposition of a self-censoring comics code body contributed to the demise of many titles and toned down others. Black and white comic book magazines, which did not fall under the law, flourished from the mid-1960s through the early 1980s from a variety of publishers. The mainstream American color comic books saw a return of horror in the 1970s, after the law was relaxed. While the genre has had periods of greater and lesser popularity, it holds a steady position in comics as of 2010.
