La venerable Thubten Chodron es autora, maestra y fundadora y abadesa de Sravasti Abbey, uno de los primeros monasterios de formación budista tibetano para monjas y monjes occidentales en los EE. UU. Se graduó de UCLA e hizo un trabajo de posgrado en educación en la USC. Ordenada como monja budista tibetana en 1977, ha estudiado extensamente con Su Santidad el Dalai Lama, Tsenzhap Serkong Rinpoche y Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche. Recibió la ordenación completa como bhikshuni en 1986.
Chodron enseña en todo el mundo y es conocida por sus explicaciones prácticas (¡y divertidas!) sobre cómo aplicar las enseñanzas budistas en la vida diaria. Ella también está involucrada en la extensión de la prisión y el diálogo interreligioso. Ha publicado muchos libros sobre filosofía y meditación budistas, y actualmente es coautora con Su Santidad el Dalai Lama de una serie de varios volúmenes de enseñanzas sobre el camino budista, The Library of Wisdom and Compassion. El primer volumen, Acercarse al camino budista, se publicó en agosto de 2017.
