Globalisation: Studies in Anthropology pdf

Thomas Hylland Eriksen est professeur d'anthropologie sociale à l'Université d'Oslo. Né à Oslo, il a effectué des travaux de terrain à Trinidad et à Maurice. Ses domaines de recherche incluent l'identité, le nationalisme, la mondialisation et les politiques identitaires. Eriksen a terminé son dr. polit.-diplôme en 1991, et a été nommé professeur en 1995, à l'âge de 33 ans. Dans les années 1993-2001, il a été rédacteur en chef de la revue Samtiden.
Une partie considérable du travail d'Eriksen s'est concentrée sur la vulgarisation de l'anthropologie sociale et la transmission du relativisme culturel de base ainsi que la critique du nationalisme norvégien dans le débat public norvégien. Il a écrit le manuel de base utilisé dans les cours d'introduction à l'anthropologie sociale dans la plupart des universités scandinaves. Le livre, "Small Places - Large Issues" en anglais, est également utilisé dans les cours d'introduction dans de nombreux autres pays, et a été largement traduit, tout comme son autre manuel majeur, "Ethnicity and Nationalism: Anthropological Perspectives". Eriksen est un contributeur fréquent d'articles de journaux en Scandinavie.
En 2011, le professeur Eriksen a reçu une bourse avancée du Conseil européen de la recherche. Sous le titre « SURCHAUFFE », il dirige désormais des recherches sur trois crises majeures de la mondialisation : économie/finance, environnement/climat et identité/culture. Ce projet est à la fois comparatif et interdisciplinaire. Commencé fin 2012, il sera achevé en 2016.
