Jonathan Leeman (PhD, Université du Pays de Galles) est le directeur éditorial de 9Marks, une organisation qui produit des ressources sur le leadership d'église à Washington, DC. Il est l'auteur de L'Église et l'offense surprenante de l'amour de Dieu et de l'appartenance à l'Église : comment le monde sait qui représente Jésus, ainsi que l'éditeur de L'Évangile sous-estimé. Il est également chargé de cours occasionnel au Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary et enseignant auxiliaire au Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Après avoir obtenu des diplômes de premier cycle et des cycles supérieurs en sciences politiques, Leeman a commencé sa carrière dans le journalisme en travaillant comme rédacteur en chef d'un magazine économique international. Depuis son appel au ministère, il a obtenu un MDiv et un doctorat en théologie et a travaillé comme pasteur par intérim. Il est actuellement ancien à la Capitol Hill Baptist Church et vit avec sa femme et ses quatre filles dans la banlieue de Washington, DC.

Biblical theology is not just about reading the Bible rightly, though it begins there. It serves to guard and guide the local church. It maintains the right message, defines the task of the messenger, identifies impostors, tells us what we do when we gather, and sets the trajectory of our mission. It answers the question, Who are we, as the church in the world?
Those are some of the topics this issue of the Journal will explore. The goal here is not so much to trace out the Bible’s storyline, but to show how knowing that storyline locates the identity and work of the church in the grand sweep of history.
