Lynn Picknett est une auteure de livres qui traitent principalement de la pseudo-histoire et des théories populaires du complot, du paranormal, de l'occultisme et des mystères historiques et religieux.
Né à Folkestone, Kent, Angleterre, en avril 1947, Picknett a grandi dans une prétendue maison hantée à York, fréquentant la Park Grove Junior School et la Queen Anne Grammar School. Après avoir obtenu un diplôme universitaire avec un diplôme supérieur (avec distinction) en littérature anglaise, elle est brièvement devenue enseignante, vendeuse et comique avant de déménager à Londres en 1971 pour rejoindre Marshall Cavendish Publications en tant que sous-rédactrice en chef stagiaire.
Dans les années 1980, elle a été rédactrice en chef adjointe de The Unexplained et a contribué à de nombreuses autres publications. Elle a également contribué régulièrement à diverses émissions de radio, notamment celles de Michael van Straten et de Clive Bull sur LBC et Talk Radio. Elle a également été présentatrice de télévision pour Anglia et Southern TV.
En 1990, elle a été commissaire invitée de l'exposition The Unexplained at Bath de la Royal Photographic Society, assumant la même fonction en 1999 pour le National Museum of Photography, Film and Television de Bradford.
