Bret Easton Ellis (né le 7 mars 1964) est un auteur, scénariste, nouvelliste et réalisateur américain. Ellis a d'abord été considéré comme l'un des soi-disant Brat Pack littéraires et est un satiriste autoproclamé dont la technique de marque, en tant qu'écrivain, est l'expression d'actes et d'opinions extrêmes dans un style sans affectation. Ses romans partagent généralement des personnages récurrents.
Quand Ellis avait 21 ans, son premier roman, le best-seller controversé Less Than Zero (1985), a été publié. Son troisième roman, American Psycho (1991), est son plus grand succès.
