Son livre A History of the World in Twelve Maps (Allen Lane, 2012) a été traduit en douze langues. ] Son livre Selling the Goods of the Late King: Charles I and His Art Collection (Macmillan, 2006) a été nominé pour le prix Samuel Johnson (maintenant le prix Bailey Gifford).
