John Gray (né le 28 décembre 1951) est un conseiller relationnel, conférencier et auteur américain. En 1969, il a commencé une association de neuf ans avec Maharishi Mahesh Yogi avant de commencer sa carrière en tant qu'auteur et conseiller en relations personnelles. En 1992, il a publié le livre Les hommes viennent de Mars, les femmes viennent de Vénus, qui est devenu un best-seller à long terme et a formé le thème central de tous ses livres et activités de carrière ultérieurs. Ses livres se sont vendus à des millions d'exemplaires.

Gray est né à Houston, au Texas, en 1951 d'un père qui était un cadre pétrolier et d'une mère qui travaillait dans une librairie spirituelle, et a grandi avec cinq frères. Ses parents étaient tous deux chrétiens et lui ont appris le yoga et l'ont emmené visiter Indian Saint Yogananda durant son enfance. L'autobiographie d'un yogi l'a beaucoup inspiré plus tard dans la vie.

Il a obtenu un baccalauréat et une maîtrise en science de l'intelligence créative, bien que les sources varient selon que ces diplômes ont été obtenus soit de la Maharishi European Research University (MERU) non accréditée en Suisse, soit de la Maharishi International University accréditée à Fairfield, Iowa.

Gray a reçu un doctorat non accrédité (mais approuvé par l'État) en 1982 de la Columbia Pacific University (CPU), une institution aujourd'hui disparue située à San Rafael, en Californie, après avoir terminé un cours par correspondance et un doctorat honorifique de la Governors State University dans l'Illinois après il a prononcé leur discours d'ouverture en 2002.
En 1969, Gray a assisté à une conférence de Méditation Transcendantale, devenant plus tard célibataire et assistant personnel de Maharishi Mahesh Yogi pendant neuf ans.

Gray écrit une chronique syndiquée aux États-Unis avec 30 millions de lecteurs qui apparaît dans The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, New York Daily News, New York Newsday, The Denver Post et San Antonio Express-News.
