David Michael Buss (né le 14 avril 1953) est un psychologue évolutionniste américain de l'Université du Texas à Austin, qui étudie les différences sexuelles humaines dans la sélection des partenaires. Il est considéré comme l'un des fondateurs de la psychologie évolutionniste. Buss a obtenu son doctorat en psychologie à l'Université de Californie à Berkeley en 1981. Avant de devenir professeur à l'Université du Texas, il a été professeur adjoint pendant quatre ans à l'Université de Harvard et professeur à l'Université du Michigan pendant onze ans. Les principaux sujets de ses recherches comprennent les stratégies d'accouplement masculin, les conflits entre les sexes, le statut social, la réputation sociale, le prestige, l'émotion de la jalousie, l'homicide, les défenses anti-homicide et, plus récemment, le harcèlement.
