David Michael Buss (né le 14 avril 1953) est un psychologue évolutionniste américain de l'Université du Texas à Austin, qui étudie les différences sexuelles humaines dans la sélection des partenaires. Il est considéré comme l'un des fondateurs de la psychologie évolutionniste. Buss a obtenu son doctorat en psychologie à l'Université de Californie à Berkeley en 1981. Avant de devenir professeur à l'Université du Texas, il a été professeur adjoint pendant quatre ans à l'Université de Harvard et professeur à l'Université du Michigan pendant onze ans.
