Richard Russell Riordan Jr. est un auteur américain. Il est connu pour avoir écrit la série Percy Jackson & the Olympians, sur un adolescent nommé Percy Jackson qui découvre qu'il est le fils du dieu grec Poséidon. Les livres de Riordan ont été traduits en quarante-deux langues et vendus à plus de trente millions d'exemplaires aux États-Unis. La 20th Century Fox a adapté les deux premiers livres de sa série Percy Jackson dans le cadre d'une série de films. Ses livres ont engendré des médias connexes, tels que des romans graphiques et des recueils de nouvelles. Le premier roman complet de Riordan était Big Red Tequila, qui est devenu le premier livre de la série Tres Navarre. Sa grande percée a été The Lightning Thief (2005), le premier roman de la série en cinq volumes Percy Jackson et les Olympiens, qui a placé un groupe d'adolescents des temps modernes dans un cadre mythologique gréco-romain.
