राम प्रसाद एमिटी इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ माइक्रोबियल टेक्नोलॉजी, एमिटी यूनिवर्सिटी, उत्तर प्रदेश के सहायक प्रोफेसर हैं। उन्होंने चौधरी चरण सिंह विश्वविद्यालय, मेरठ से पीएचडी (सूक्ष्म जीव विज्ञान) प्राप्त किया, जिसके लिए उन्होंने स्कूल ऑफ लाइफ साइंसेज, जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय (जेएनयू), नई दिल्ली में प्रायोगिक कार्य किया। उन्होंने स्कूल ऑफ लाइफ साइंसेज, जेएनयू, नई दिल्ली से लाइफ साइंसेज में एमएससी किया और सीएसआईआर-नेट, गेट और एएसआरबी-नेट क्वालिफाई किया। उनके पास पचहत्तर प्रकाशन हैं, जिनमें अंतरराष्ट्रीय और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर शोध पत्र और पुस्तक अध्याय शामिल हैं। उनके पास पांच पेटेंट जारी या लंबित हैं और वे तीन पुस्तकों के लेखक/संपादक हैं। डॉ प्रसाद के पास बारह साल का शोध और नौ साल का शिक्षण अनुभव है। उन्हें यंग साइंटिस्ट अवार्ड और प्रो जे एस दत्ता मुंशी गोल्ड मेडल से सम्मानित किया गया। उन्हें माइक्रोबियल बायोटेक्नोलॉजी के क्षेत्र में सोसाइटी फॉर एप्लाइड बायोटेक्नोलॉजी द्वारा एफएसएबी फेलोशिप से भी सम्मानित किया गया है। हाल ही में, उन्हें शुरुआती जांचकर्ताओं के लिए अमेरिकन कैंसर सोसाइटी यूआईसीसी इंटरनेशनल फैलोशिप (2014) से सम्मानित किया गया है और वर्तमान में, व्हिटिंग स्कूल ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग, मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग विभाग, जॉन्स हॉपकिन्स यूनिवर्सिटी, यूएसए में विजिटिंग असिस्टेंट प्रोफेसर हैं।

This book focuses on food security in sustainable agriculture and nutrient management. The study of plant probiotic microbes’ synergism using existing techniques has greatly improved our grasp of the structure and functioning of the plant microbiome. However, the function of plant probiotic microbes and their relation to plants’ health in the context of food security, soil nutrient management, human and plant health are largely unexplored. Compared to human probiotics, diverse types and millions of microbiota inhabit plants, forming multifaceted and complicated ecological societies that stimulate plant growth and health through their combined metabolic activities. From the perspective of sustainable cropping systems, observing plant probiotics can provide insights on how to stimulate and maintain plant productivity, along with host stress tolerance and recycling of soil nutrients. This book combines reviews and original research articles to highlight the latest advances in plant probiotics, their specificity, diversity, function, as well as plant microbiome management to improve plant growth and productivity, nutrient management and human health.
