Walter Brueggemann (nato l'11 marzo 1933) è uno studioso e teologo protestante americano dell'Antico Testamento che è ampiamente considerato uno degli studiosi dell'Antico Testamento più influenti degli ultimi decenni. È una figura importante nel cristianesimo progressista moderno il cui lavoro si concentra spesso sulla tradizione profetica ebraica e sull'immaginazione sociopolitica della Chiesa. Sostiene che la Chiesa deve fornire una contro-narrativa alle forze dominanti del consumismo, del militarismo e del nazionalismo.
