Paulo Davim ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca. laurea in Ingegneria Meccanica nel 1997, M.Sc. laurea in Ingegneria Meccanica (materiali e processi produttivi) nel 1991, Laurea in Ingegneria Meccanica (5 anni) nel 1986, presso l'Università di Porto (FEUP), il titolo Aggregato (Full Habilitation) presso l'Università di Coimbra nel 2005 e il D. sc. (Dottorato superiore) presso la London Metropolitan University nel 2013. È Senior Chartered Engineer presso l'Institute of Engineers portoghese con un MBA e titoli specialistici in ingegneria e gestione industriale, nonché in metrologia. È anche Eur Ing di FEANI-Bruxelles e Fellow (FIET) di IET-Londra. Attualmente è Professore presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Meccanica dell'Università di Aveiro, in Portogallo. Si è inoltre distinto come professore onorario in diverse università/collegi. Ha più di 30 anni di esperienza di insegnamento e ricerca nel settore manifatturiero, dei materiali, dell'ingegneria meccanica e industriale, con particolare attenzione alla lavorazione e alla tribologia.
