Louis Pierre Althusser (francese: 16 ottobre 1918-22 ottobre 1990) è stato un filosofo marxista francese. È nato in Algeria e ha studiato all'École normale supérieure di Parigi, dove alla fine è diventato professore di filosofia. Althusser è stato un membro di lunga data e talvolta un forte critico del Partito Comunista Francese (Parti communiste français, PCF). I suoi argomenti e le sue tesi erano opposti alle minacce che vedeva attaccare i fondamenti teorici del marxismo.
