Lynn Picknett è una scrittrice di libri che riguardano principalmente la pseudo-storia e le teorie del complotto popolare, il paranormale, l'occulto e i misteri storici e religiosi.
Nato a Folkestone, nel Kent, in Inghilterra, nell'aprile del 1947, Picknett è cresciuto in una presunta casa infestata a York, frequentando la Park Grove Junior School e la Queen Anne Grammar School. Dopo essersi laureata all'università con una laurea in Letteratura inglese, è diventata per breve tempo insegnante, commessa e cabarettista prima di trasferirsi a Londra nel 1971 per entrare a far parte della Marshall Cavendish Publications come apprendista sub-editore.
Negli anni '80 è stata vicedirettore di The Unexplained e collaboratore di molte altre pubblicazioni. È stata anche una collaboratrice regolare di vari programmi radiofonici, tra cui Michael van Straten e Clive Bull's su LBC e Talk Radio. È stata anche presentatrice televisiva sia per l'Anglia che per la TV meridionale.
Nel 1990 è stata curatrice ospite della mostra The Unexplained at Bath della Royal Photographic Society, svolgendo la stessa funzione nel 1999 per il National Museum of Photography, Film and Television a Bradford.
