Roger Scruton, morto di cancro ai polmoni all'età di 75 anni, era un filosofo e un controverso intellettuale pubblico. Membro del gruppo tradizionalista-conservatore Salisbury, ha contribuito a fondare la Salisbury Review, che ha curato dal 1982 al 2001. Questo trimestrale, che è stato diffuso nel blocco sovietico, spesso in forma samizdat, è stato criticato in Gran Bretagna per avere atteggiamenti retrogradi.
