Il professor Andrew Shaw Goudie (nato nel 1945) è un geografo dell'Università di Oxford specializzato in geomorfologia del deserto, tempeste di sabbia, agenti atmosferici e cambiamenti climatici ai tropici. Ha studiato alla Dean Close School e alla Trinity Hall di Cambridge (BA prima classe con lode 1967, MA, PhD 1972). Nel 2002 ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore in Scienze presso l'Università di Oxford. Lavora all'Università di Oxford dal 1970. Nel 1976 è stato nominato Fellow dell'Hertford College. È stato nominato Professore di Geografia nel 1984 ed è stato a capo della School of Geography dal 1984 al 1994. Dal 1995 al 1997 è stato Presidente dell'Oxford Development Program e Pro-Vice-Cancelliere dell'università. È diventato Master del St Cross College nel 2003 e ha lasciato l'incarico nel 2011. Nel 1970 è stato eletto membro dell'Institute of British Geographers (di cui in seguito è stato membro del Council) e Fellow della Royal Geographical Society. È stato segretario onorario della Royal Geographical Society dal 1980 al 1988 ed è stato vicepresidente della Società. Nel 1991 la Società gli ha conferito la Medaglia dei Fondatori. Nello stesso anno è stato insignito della Medaglia Mungo Park dalla Royal Scottish Geographical Society. Nel 2002 è stato premiato dalle Accademie Reali per la Scienza e le Arti del Belgio. È stato Presidente della Geographical Association e dell'International Association of Geomorphologists. Ha servito come delegato alla Oxford University Press.
