Kamer Daron Acemoğlu, 1993'ten beri Massachusetts Teknoloji Enstitüsü'nde (MIT) ders veren Türk asıllı Amerikalı bir ekonomisttir. Halen MIT'de Elizabeth ve James Killian Ekonomi Profesörüdür. 2019 yılında Enstitü Profesörü seçildi. Robinson ile birlikte Diktatörlük ve Demokrasinin Ekonomik Kökenleri (2006) ve Ulusların Neden Başarısız Olduğunu (2012) yazdı. Ulusların ekonomik sonuçlarını şekillendirmede kurumların oynadığı rol üzerine etkili bir kitap olan ikincisi, geniş bilimsel ve medya yorumlarına yol açtı.
