Saygıdeğer Thubten Chodron, ABD'deki Batılı rahibeler ve keşişler için ilk Tibet Budist eğitim manastırlarından biri olan Sravasti Manastırı'nın yazarı, öğretmeni ve kurucusu ve başrahibesidir. UCLA'dan mezun oldu ve USC'de eğitim alanında yüksek lisans yaptı. 1977'de Tibetli bir Budist rahibe olarak atanmış, Kutsal Dalai Lama, Tsenzhap Serkong Rinpoche ve Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche ile kapsamlı bir şekilde çalışmıştır. 1986'da bir bhikshuni olarak tam koordinasyon aldı.
