Sumajit Mukherjee, Hindistan, Bombay'daki Hindistan Teknoloji Enstitüsü'nde Yerbilimleri Bölümü'nde profesördür. Doktora derecesini aldı. Dr. Mukherjee, öncelikle sünek kesme kinetiği ve darbe tektoniği üzerinde saha çalışması, mikro-yapısal çalışmalar, analog ve analitik modelleme yapan bir yapısal jeolog ve tektonik bilim adamıdır. Araştırma ve editörlük deneyimi 15 yıla yayılmıştır ve bugüne kadar 14 kitap ve tematik cildin ortak yazarlığını ve (ortak yazarlığını) yapmıştır. Halen International Journal of Geosciences (Springer), Books Consultant (Springer) ve Advances in Structural and Tectonic Geology (Elsevier) serisinin Yardımcı Editörü olarak görev yapmaktadır.
